The National Pickle Championships are divided into two main categories: Team events and individual events.  In the team events, the men's team events include the first men's singles, the second men's singles, and the men's doubles; the women's team events include the first women's singles, the second women's singles, and the women's doubles. Female participants can compete in one event.

The individual events include five categories: Men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. Each player can participate in a maximum of two events.

Regarding the competition format, both the team and individual events are divided into two stages. The first stage, the group stage, uses a point-per-ball scoring system, with a 21-point game to decide the winner. The second stage, the knockout stage, uses a serve-point scoring system, with a best-of-three, 11-point game. In the 2025 event, the team finals will be a five-match series, including men's doubles, women's doubles, the first mixed doubles, the second mixed doubles, and a mixed singles match.
